Just a little image to show the new Windows Black Screen of Death.  Nothing against Windows.  Win 7 is actually not too bad, if you are running a dual core processor and 3 GB of ram or more.

Now you can download the Beta version of Office 2010 for free.  Be among the first to view it.  Personally I am not a big office user but it should be interesting to see what they have in store.

Go to the following link and check it out.  Below the link is a screenshot of the download page where your serial number is given to you prior to your download.

If you have received any of these “unauthorized” charges from any of these companies in the past, your in for a surprise, they are authorized.

According to an article from CNET three companies have teamed up with online retailers to share your credit card information so that they can bill you for a service that you probably unknowingly agreed to.

If you’ve purchased from:

  • 1-800-Flowers.com
  • Buy.com
  • Classmates.com
  • Columbia hosue
  • Confi-Check
  • Expedia/Hotels.com
  • Fandango
  • FTD.com
  • Hotwire.com
  • InQ.com
  • Intelius.com
  • MovieTickets.com
  • Orbitz.com
  • Priceline.com
  • RedCats USA
  • Sutterfly

The way this probably happened to you was that at the end of your checkout process with the store, you received a prompt asking you to enter your e-mail address if you want receive cash back or be part of a savings program.    What you probably didn’t see was the fine print stating that you were agreeing to be billed by simply entering your credit card information.  The online retailer would be the party sharing your credit cardinfo with them.

Read more about this set up and the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation’s hearing in the following article on CNET.  (http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-10399880-93.html)
